Introduction

Education is one of the most important tools to create opportunities and improve quality of life. Education enables people to obtain financial stability and be self-reliant. Education cultivates a person’s ability to develop themselves and is a source of hope. There are many individuals in developing countries, and in underprivileged areas of developed countries, who lack access to decent basic education. An appropriate and conducive environment is necessary to education. Due to family circumstances, malnutrition, disease, and lack of community support, many students are not able to succeed academically. Similarly, many schools lack funds, personnel, and resources to provide a basic education. As a result, many individuals receive an insufficient education. Our primary objectives are providing opportunities for education and creating an environment that supports education. We also work with communities to educate people about public health, community issues, local infrastructure, and skills necessary to lasting development. By equipping communities, schools, teachers, and students with knowledge, volunteer assistance, supplies, and financial support, we work together to make a difference.

Introduction

camp
Recent estimates suggest that there are over forty-six million refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide, and the numbers to continue to grow. Many receive UN support; however, many are left on their own. The numbers – and the support – are only awarded to officially recognized refugees. Others are on their own.

Our Work

Our current refugee initiative provides support to unrecognized refugees. By providing opportunities for education, students can eventually test into programs in the education system in their country of residence and obtain legal recognition. With travel documents and higher education, they are freed from the camps and have a chance at self-reliance and a normal life.

Introduction

Sinks at school
Clean water is a basic necessity to life that is a vital part of a supportive environment for education and growth. We work by assisting communities and schools to supply their people with sanitary water via education on planning, use, and management of water purification and distribution systems; facilitating volunteer projects to assist in establishing sustainable community solutions; and donating equipment to create a sustainable clean water system.

Introduction

It’s hard to think on an empty stomach. We believe in education, but sometimes you have to make sure your students have a full stomach so they are able to learn what is taught. We work to help impoverished individuals, especially children, meet their basic nutritional needs. From there, we work with community leaders to formulate lasting solutions. We understand that in some cases this may take time, but we always work to help people in a way that in the future, they will no longer need our help.
The Patterson Foundation for Education is always looking for opportunities to assist individuals and communities in need. Some examples of other types of projects include supplying jackets to children who cannot afford them, supporting free health clinics, and providing eyecare and glasses. If you or your organization wish to work with us on a unique project as not outlined in our initiative pages, please contact us .
